Dear UNYEIP Family of Parents and Providers: We need your - TopicsExpress

Dear UNYEIP Family of Parents and Providers: We need your active participation and contributions in this initiative. We recognize that many families across the state have been waiting for Early Intervention services for their child for a considerably long period. We recognize that many children have simply not received services. We recognize that some children eligible for services are only authorized for these services when a service provider has been found which may be weeks or months AFTER the inception of their IFSP. The COALITION OF EI PROVIDER GROUP met in Albany on Friday, January 16th to plan our advocacy efforts for the 2015/2016 NYS Budget. As reported previously, Governor Cuomo will be releasing his budget on Wednesday, January 21st at the same time as his State of the State. The UNYEIP Deputy Directors, John Hofmayer and Jill Hepp, and I represented UNYEIP at the 1/16 meeting. One of the outgrowths of this meeting is to collect stories from our parents (providers can assist as well) from a variety of counties ACROSS New York State. We are seeking CURRENT Stories (from circumstances that occurred in 2014/2015) of parents waiting for services for their child with special needs and the impact that this has had on the family. DUE DATE: January 30th. Please provide the link below to your families or anyone you know who is presently waiting for EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES in NY for his/her child. Here is the LINK to use to provide stories on current EI Children waiting to receive services and the personal impact of this wait on families: bit.ly/1DPw9zK NOTE: if you as a provider choose to tell a story, provide your email address and the town that the child resides in. DUE DATE FOR Waiting-List-Stories IS JANUARY 30th. Thank you for your assistance in this regard.
