Okay, I’m TOTALLY freaked out. I just saw a creature outside my window… er, sliding glass door, anyway. And it definitely was NOT human. Brownish-gray fur. The eyes—the streetlight glinted off those eyes, and I could see them darting around. This thing was looking at me and the sense of fear was intense. The eyes gleamed with an intelligence that spoke to me more deeply than any words. Just like humans, It had two—oh, Jesus—right on the top of the head—but they were HUGE, in proportion to the body. Oh, my god. It was because it was really dark out—even with the supermoon out there, it was just ambient light, really—that I saw this thing. I saw the eyes first. Heart still pounding. This thing had four limbs, but it walked upright in a weird kind of hopping motion—then it would stay absolutely stark still for minutes at a time. I can’t believe I saw this thing right in the middle of town. Damn, how do you report something like this? To whom? Nobody around. I don’t think it would matter if there had been. Okay, I gotta settle down. Fix a drink or something. You’re not going to believe me. No one would believe this. All right, here’s the weird part: This thing came up right out of the ground. Like a portal opened and it just popped out. Stepped out onto the grass and looked right freaking at me—but from the side. Its gaze was locked on to me and the fear was palpable. It wouldn’t take those eyes off of me. It was creepy, I was drawn to it at an instinctual level, but I knew I wouldn’t even be able to get close to it, especially if it didn’t want me to. And I wouldn’t want to. My reptilian brain told me that. Guys, I’ve gotta tell ya, this is not the first time I’ve seen one. This specimen was definitely a juvenile. But I’ve heard they can get MUCH bigger. I was so startled when I first saw it—it blended right in with the background, some kind of camouflage—and then it just froze there, staring at me. Unnerving doesn’t begin to describe the panic involved. Immediately, the stories we’ve all heard involving horrible experiments, mutilations and these beings popped into my head. I mean, we’ve all heard them. One evening, I actually—true story—followed somebody that used a card-key on to gain entry to a perfectly regular-looking building on campus and waited until the door almost closed behind him to follow. I was just trying to get to the first floor roof to retrieve my golf disc. When I was sure that no one was around, I stumbled into a lab—this was many years ago at the University—where unspeakable experiments were going on with horribly mutated animals. And these creatures were heavily involved. Yeah, the government is working with these creatures in bizarre experiments that make me queasy just to contemplate. Tests. Beakers. Genetic engineering, that’s what it said on the lab door. I know it sounds insane. But you have to believe me! It’s absolutely true. Will anyone believe me? So, my friends, everything, every WORD I’ve written above IS true. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT I SAW?!!? What did I see tonight?
