Okay but, She is a little girl. She is a friend. But she is not a cat. She’s never depicted on all fours. She walks and sits like a two-legged creature. Am I the only one who thinks there may be a problem in translation going on here? Perhaps the concept of anthropomorphism is different in Japanese culture? Like, for us, Bugs Bunny is obviously a rabbit, but maybe they would consider him a man because anthropomorphic characters are basically humans with animal characteristics? Think of cat girls in Japanese animation. They are not cats, they are girls with cat features. Perhaps its more difficult to draw a distinction based on how our languages work and how we understand anthropomorphic characters? Does anyone know more about Japanese stuff and can comment on this?
