Okay folks, had a bit of excitement today and I just want to remind everyone about following distance and not driving distractedly. What happened? Well as we where headed south on I-55 about mile post 248 I think it was. There was an accident cleanup going on on the northbound side. Traffic heading north was backed up and had just been stupefied for a tow truck to be moved into place. Just south of the scene there was a small rise whitch was blocking the stooped vehicals from view on the traffic coming there way. Passing by the scene headind south and looking back from checking my right mirror I was greeted to a cloud of blue brake smoke on the north side and a tanker truck coming over the rise with his trailer trying to pass the truck on the left and a Jeep CJ crossing the median to get out of the way. The tanker passed the Jeep as it left the road and headed across the median on a track that wound bring it into oncoming traffic and my truck. I began moving to the right in hopes to avoid the oncoming hazard, but quickly saw that there was no way I could get out of the way. Moving over was just going to make the contact be on the side of the cab rather than head on. Slowing down would just move the impact point move to the right side but still head on. Speeding up to get out of the way was not an option as I was doing 60mph in a 62mph truck so that was not happening. Going left might prevent the tanker from hitting me but then I would be plowing through parked bumper to bumper traffic at 60mph, not an option. I then said a supper prayer," Lord this is in your hands and I know you will make it all end good and safe." Then the tanker came to a stop just off the road surface sitting on the slope of the median ditch. I do not know if it was empty or not but it did not roll. The ground held and as I looked in my left mirror it had to be the hand of God holding it up as the center of gravity was outside the wheels of the trailer. I have had a head ache ever since but as I make this post I feel it leaving me. GOD is Good. AMEN
