Okay friends, it is after 2:00 a.m. here. I already uploaded the pictures from day one, however, now a quick narrative before turning in. Our bus leaves in 6 hours and I am still up!!! Day one started with me landing in Tel Aviv, Israel. My group arrived a day before I did. I took a taxi to our hotel and the same taxi to join them. (Note the Mercedes Benz for a taxi in the pictures). I caught up with my group (all friends and colleagues) in Jaffa, a 4000-year -old city situated on the southern outskirts of downtown Tel Aviv that may well be the worlds oldest seaport. We went on a walk through Old Jaffa, and then visited the Ilana Goor Museum. This museum is housed in the private home of this renowned Israeli artist, designer, and sculptor. Here artifacts from Israels past and artworks from its present stand side by side. We then ventured to the colorful Jaffa Flea Market where we had a chance to browse the vendors extensive selection of antiques. (No, I did not purchase anything!) However, I had some freshly squeezed pomegranate juice. I would like to have that contraption in my home to juice my pomegranates. (See pictures). We then enjoyed lunch at the home of Doris, an Arab Christian living in Tel Aviv. Doris shared the story of her familys history and her very own arranged marriage. Okay, I will upload the pictures and narrative from day two later when I return to the hotel. Day two was absolutely splendid. We visited Caesarea, Haifa, and then traveled by way of the coast to Nazareth. We also had dinner in the home of the author of the movie Top Gun with his lovely wife Jacqueline (Soshi). More details and pictures to follow.
