Okay guys. Art in WWII is hard to find. With the exception of Hitlers mustache, of course. To me, Hitler’s mustache was a form of art in and of itself. Commonly called the “toothbrush mustache” or the “postage stamp,” it takes a vertical form rather than a tapered or horizontal form -- such a mustache is easy to style and quite fashionable. If analyzed, one can see the perfectly formed shape that complements Hitler’s jaw structure and dic(k)tatoriality. This aesthetic piece of “facial furniture” is masculine and intimidating. By emphasizing his upper lip, the mouth brow brings a focus to his terrorizing scowl; it’s quite a hit with the ladies. Not only is this patch of overgrown nostril hairs instantly recognizable -- it adds a sinister aura as well. This dynamic combination creates a ferocious look on the lower half of the face. With the swath of caterpillar fuzz slightly resembling a broom, it may also be assumed that Hitler used his own “lip sweater to polish his silverware, dust the top of his bookshelf, or torment the Jews in an even more unimaginable way: by tickle torture. Another ingenious tactic of this mustache could be argued to have been a smoke filter, used in order to avoid a tragic accident with mustard gas. So, Searle. I hope you are convinced. We expect a toothbrush oustache in the next few weeks. This has been a PSA by Catharine and Alyssa.
