Okay here is my nightly update for Wednesday, January 22. - TopicsExpress

Okay here is my nightly update for Wednesday, January 22. LaTanya Smiths mother, Sharon Anderson, stopped in the store this afternoon. We were able to show her a small portion of the outpouring of donations that have been received on her familys behalf. She was overcome with emotion at what you guys have done. She wanted to convey how thankful they are for everything that has been donated and asked me to pass on a huge thank you to all of you. She said that Tre came through his surgery to have the trache placed very well and they were thankful that the doctors considered him strong enough to have the surgery in the first place. She said that he is responsive and does know what is being said to him. I praise God for this wonderful news and I know he will continue to take care of Tre. We have an angel among us who has offered to donate a very beautiful Baldwin piano to the Smith family since they are a musical family. I am not going to name her because I didnt ask her permission first and knowing her like I do I think she would probably rather remain nameless. She also brought me in a beautiful Bible and told me that she wanted Bill Smith to have it. When I asked Sharon if they would want the piano, she told me that Bill had a little recording area in their home and he lost all of that in the fire. She said she feels sure that they would want the piano with tears in her eyes. I then gave her the Bible for Bill and it was more than we could all handle. It was a very special moment and I am thankful that I was allowed to be a part of it. Thank you to the person who made that happen. The Smith family has all of the clothing they need at this time, thanks to all of you. Tre will need items once he gets out of the hospital and we will take care of that at that time. They are still in need of dishes, pots and pans, towels, washcloths, sheets, bedding, and furniture to name a few household items. These items can be dropped off at Jericho storage on Jericho Road in Point Pleasant, storage unit number 16. If you cannot get your items to the storage unit you can drop them off to us at the Treasure Cove and we will get them to the storage unit. The preferred choice would be to drop it off at the storage unit though because of our limited storage space at the store. Once again, monetary donations are still being taken at Peoples Bank. Be sure to look at the Smith family benefit page on Facebook for all of the current information regarding fundraisers and benefits for this family. We received an outpouring of totes and boxes today so I think we are okay in that area for the time being. We will be boxing up the last of it tomorrow and if we need more at that time I will let you know. Thank you to those who worked today to get us a donation of totes from Odd Lots and a ton of boxes. They made three or four trips to bring all of that to us and then even stayed there and put all the boxes together and taped them for us. Thank you to everyone who brought in totes and boxes! Thank you to Odd Lots for donating three totes to us. Thank you to Brenda at Foodland who is getting us some more boxes as well. After we have the remainder of it boxed up tomorrow, we will be delivering it to the storage unit in the afternoon. I also want to say a huge thanks to the day report group who brought six people to help us sort through the donations today! It was a great help and we appreciate what you did. Donations continued to pour in today for the Lindsey family. They had a storage unit donated to them today. It is at Gallipolis storage, unit number 44. This is on Flamingo Drive in Kanauga. Thank you to the person who paid for that storage unit for them. We loaded up their second van load of items in the van tonight but it was already dark so we have to wait until tomorrow to take that because the storage unit closes at dark. The Lindsey family has asked that we discontinue the donations of clothing because they have enough at this time thanks to all of you! The only exception would be that the little four-year-old girl who wears a size 8/10 in clothing could still use some stretchy pants. She has received a lot of dresses and its kind of cold for those right now. She prefers stretchy pants over jeans. They are also still in need of a car booster seat for the four-year-old girl. Other than these items listed the only items they still need are household items such as pots and pans, dishes, towels, washcloths, blankets, furniture, etc. Once again, these items can be dropped off at storage unit number 44 on Flamingo Drive or they can be dropped off to us if you need to and we can get them to the storage unit. They have received plenty of dog food for now and plenty of toys for now. They also have plenty of personal hygiene items. Linda Lindsey has asked me to thank all of you for your generous donations. They are very appreciative of everything they have been given. A special thank you to Melissa who donated an easy bake oven to the four-year-old girl today. Little did you know that that was the main item she asked for from Santa this year and she got one. She lost it in the fire and has been crying since then to get an easy bake oven back so thank you! The 10-year-old boy has received not only another DS game but also received a charger for his 3DS and two games today so thank you to the people who dropped those off at the motel. We have still not received any information on the Mayes family from Route 2 but I found out today that they may not need our help. We are happy for them if they have all of their needs met but we are still here if it turns out that they need something. The older man that I mentioned last night from Super 8 appears to be very quiet and stays to himself. Renee at Super 8 is working to discreetly get his information without making him uncomfortable. I will keep you updated if we find that there is a need for him. Lastly, as you all probably know by now, WSAZ came by the store today to talk to us about the outpouring of support for the Smith family. Looks like your good deed has made the news!!! Congratulations on being such a wonderful community and pulling together to help those in need!! My hats off to you. As I told the reporter today, Ive lived here all my life yet Ive never been prouder of our community than I am right now. God bless you all.
