Okay, if the wind and heat aren’t enough, it’s City Council - TopicsExpress

Okay, if the wind and heat aren’t enough, it’s City Council AGENDA time. I know, too much excitement. Check out Item 4 and the abc’s. The Corona City Council is being asked to approve 2 – not 1 but 2 – contracts, for a mere 5 years each. One awards South Coast Management Services $ 600,000 per year, the other is for Tesco Controls at $ 400,000. These gems may be completely necessary – but, once again, it’s on the All Consent All the Time Calendar. Nothing to see here folks, just approve it. The really disturbing thing is, unless it is opened up for questions at the council meeting, beside the dollars, & beside the fact that we grant contracts for L O N G periods of time, is this; if it is approved, my reading (which could be wrong) is that once this is done – it is done. It does not EVER during the term of the contract have to come back to the council. Not for more money or serious adjustments – because Jonathan Daly, DWP & the Corona attorneys (our new shiny department) will just “take care of it all”. (my emphasis) So did we elect Jonathan or the attorneys? Why would the council, who have seen in the last 3 meetings that budget INCREASES are occurring with increasing frequency, let this go and not oversee or make it subject to review ? Its a this large project. I’m sure the answer is, in the small group that talks about this, and were not there, it looks like a “nothing but net”, deal. I’m seeing a shot go wrong?
