Okay, if you happen to have seen this clip on Faux News, please be aware that the childs Native American blood is NOT the reason the adoption was halted. The adoption was halted because blood relatives came forward to care for the child. [B]lood relatives are always looked at first before adoption.... [P]lacement with the uncle would be first priority placement with or without Native American heritage.... WA State DHHS This is just more yellow journalism on the part of a douchbag couple who are pissed off that their role as foster parents has limits, and now they are going to cry foul to anyone who will listen. That is a violation of the childs and her familys privacy AND a violation of the DHHS rules. The sad thing is that there are people and groups in this country who want to eradicate ICWA so they are willing to drag the childs and her familys names through the mud in order to achieve their aim. They will twist the facts of the case and make it look like the Big Bad NDNs are attacking them as they try to save us by taking our kids. Once again, even without ICWA, even if the child were another ethnicity, even if she were 100% lily-white, first priority placement would be with her uncle and his wife, where she is now, as she should be. (and really, is it just me or is this guy SUPER creepy looking??? He gives me the heebie-jeebies. Ew.)
