Okay, im sorry but the ocampa are the WORST race in star trek canon for me, and i really didnt mind kes dont get me wrong i think shes cool but her race makes absolutely 0 sense. Okay they can only have one baby in their lives for a race that only lives 8 years assuming only the females are the one that make the babies this makes no evolutionary sense it would cut their population down by half every generation and assuming both males and females get pregnant there is still no population growth. Also their mating ritual is so long and overly complicated im surprised they can even have one kid. The mother has to massage her feet until her tongue swell and she has to eat a ton and grow weird stuff on her? what the hell? Now to get on to the point that janeway gets her crew stranded for this race, whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat this makes aboslutely 0 SENSE again, and its one of the many problems i have with voyager. Janeway could have set a timed explosive to blow the array and used it to get her crew home, and if she couldnt do that a starfleet captain she knows that her training may require her to sacrifice one of her own at some point so she could have left someone behind to activate the array while the rest of the crew got to go home. Anyways that diverges from the point of the ocampa. Thats my thoughts
