Okay, it’s been a week since Cabaret closed, and I’ve had a little time to process. Here’s the recap: On one hand - 3 bad reviews. On the other hand - 1 good review, 1 Valley Recommendation, 10 SOLD OUT houses and a TON of positive feedback. What does that mean? It means I trust our audiences, so I am going to keep taking risks, making bold choices, and producing iconic shows in ways that people aren’t used to seeing them. Because who else in town is doing big Broadway musicals in shoebox theatres with no fly space, wing space, pit space or budget? That’s what theatre is all about to me. If I’m not scared to death of a project; if I’m not going to learn anything from it; if I’m not giving myself points for “level of difficulty,” then what’s the purpose? Dare yourself to do something someone has told you that you can’t do today… Love & Art
