Okay, kiddies. Im so Memphis, I remember parking in the Goldsmiths parking garage, walking through the underground tunnel, past the restrooms and those chairs set on angles, through the sundries and notions corridor to get to the Enchanted Forest, only to throw a fit and be taken out through the escape hatch (was terrified of Santa), then either up to the top floor restaurant - my mom would order a diet plate (hamburger patty and cottage cheese) or a salad served in a giant seashell. If we were feeling really fancy, wed leave the store, walk down Main (admiring all of the new cars running up and the down the street) and go to the grand and beautiful marble-clad Brittlings Cafeteria. A stop at the Lemon Frog Shop in Sears to buy my female cousins some groovy things, a trip way out to the new Southland Mall to play on the concrete dinosaurs. I can also sing the entire Howards Furniture jingle (Everything in our house comes from Howards, but me!) and I know that taking a trip to Barzizzas was like a trip around the world.
