Okay, let me say this; whooping a childs butt keeps a child from running a muck and in most cases, the child is familiar with consequence, not beating a child.. spanking a child(there is a difference). Not spanking a child isnt going to make him/her rotten but how can you expect them understand that immediate consequence for their actions... take something from them? In some scenarios, a child will know you arent going to take any action towards them; so, theres an air of I dont care floating around, thus the flipped mouth is born; which translates into whatever, you cant tell me anything, catering to disrespect 101. We dont have time for foolishness with our children. The world isnt kind or understanding; it can be a vicious place(look at all the deaths of our Black young men, the repeated violence and disrespect of our young ladies and women..no one is unscathed. We are all affected..all colors and creeds.) There is nothing wrong with an occasional swat to the bottom; it will not turn your child into an ax murderer; it might be the very thing needed to keep the police from knocking down your door and keeping your child out of jail(a dear friend who was locked up a long time ago spoke to this many years later). And my goodness, stop calling this corporal punishment.. its just an ass whipping!! To call a parent who whips a kids butt an abuser is ridiculous. There are real criminals who deserve that title for far more heinous crimes; let that stay with them. Spankings werent done daily in some homes(unless needed); if that will save a kids life, then by all means fire away!! They wont understand it now but talk to them before and after if necessary so your kids are aware of your actions and your feelings on this. They are smart and can handle it. (whew)I have spoken my peace!!
