Okay...maybe my family and I have had some trying times during the past year, BUT...we have had MANY BLESSINGS as well! I choose to thank God for His tender loving care and compassion. David and Elliott are both in very good health. Elliott has been such a joy! He always has something interesting going on whether it be studying abroad, going to a concert, or just gathering up a bunch of his friends to hang out with. He also has a mighty fine girlfriend (Meredith) who has been such a positive force in our lives. My little family keeps me from being lonely or discouraged. I thank God for them and for Jason and Gretchen, Jamie and Melissa. I certainly am blessed by our grands as well-- Andrew, Jacob, Lily Grace, Collin, and Annabeth. I have missed out on some things this year: my high school class reunion, my Uncle Jacks funeral, Christmas Eve at my mother-in-laws, a highly anticipated concert, working with VBS, etc. Even so, I have been able to go several places and do a few fun things the past 7 months. I am thankful for the medical community who give me great care and hope. That being said, please pray that my upcoming scan (this Friday) will show a decrease in the tumor. I am not the only one who has had some tough times. I pray everyday for all the folks who are battling problems in this old world. I pray for the loss of loved ones. I suppose I am more keenly aware of others pain because I have had a taste myself. What have I learned? What can anyone learn from trials? I have learned that God is our strength...He wants us to depend on Him totally. God wants us to thank Him in all things and times. He wants us to trust Him even when life doesnt make sense. I hope you and your family have a very blessed 2015! I will conclude by passing on a paragraph from an article written by Kathleen A. Berry that appeared in the Jan/Feb 2015 Christian Woman magazine: British author and poet, G. K. Chesterton speculated, the object of a new year is not that we should have a new year, but rather that we should have a new soul.. Romans 12:2 tells us, be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. Praying for peace, comfort, hope, and love. Love, Lucy
