Okay my dear family and friends. After a beautiful - TopicsExpress

Okay my dear family and friends. After a beautiful afternoon/evening with my great grandsons at the Yolo County Fair I got "the shock" no one wants from there defibrillator/pace maker. A defibrillator/pace maker is implanted in the heart to either slow the beat of the heart down (defibrillator) or speed the heart up (pace maker). They are life saving devices and without them the likelihood of dying of heart related issues is much higher. In my case my heart has Ventricular Tachycardia VT (bottom half of heart) and Supraventicular Tachycardia SVT (upper half of heart). It has been an ongoing issue since my heart surgery in Feb 2011 that I live with every day. Last night for some reason my heart went into an erratic heart beat to the point my defib shocked me 3 extremely strong electrical jolts. I never lost consciousness or blacked out and was able to talk and give the medical personal what they needed but my blood pressure and pulse was very erratic and my defib was not pacing my heart so it was decided that I needed to go to ER. Due to the fact that I was not in a specialized cardiac unit and the doctors were not sure exactly what set the defib off it was decided that it would be best if I was admitted to the hospital over night for observation. There was speculation that I might have had a heart attack but that was ruled out this morning. The machine that is used to check the function of the defib/pace maker was brought in this morning and it showed that I had 6 episodes of SVT from 6:05pm until 8:40pm (during this time I was feeling fine) then the defib went off and did its job. I am now home and other than being very tired because I have had no sleep and my chest is sore behind the defib from the shocks and I have 10,000 needle holes in me I am doing okay. I got wonderful care at Woodland Memorial Hospital and am grateful for all they did for me. I need to follow up with my heart specialist and have put in a call all ready. Thank you all for the prayers and thoughts I know that they were a big part of my getting better and coming home. And a special thank you to my granddaughter, her husband (my grandson in law) and there friends for coming to my aid so quickly I love you so much. Hugs Janie
