Okay, not sure if non-VS day posts are allowed today, but here goes: I just want to talk about the recent mainstream exposure of fan edits. Sites ranging from comicbookmovie to Kotaku to IGN had been sharing loads of these recently. Looking at both the commenters and the videos themself had concerned me. I realize that these videos are not in everyones taste, however, I see many people brushing it off as soon as they see that its fake. Most of the commenters expressed more interest in fan films with original footage. However, they must understand that most of us, as editors, do not have the time nor the budget to do that. However, Im trying to bridge that gap by hiring voice actors to perform in my JL movie. On to the videos themselves. I did not check who made it, but it seems like they do not have much of a focus on the visual narrative, and thats probably why people are brushing it off. I want to tell you guys that there are a variety of editors out there, all with different preferences and video editing styles, please look though all of them before you brush off the entire genre.
