Okay,, so as many of you know, Ive been fretting over some of Haileys stroke related issues - specifically the right side of her body. I found a podiatrist that would work with us and had an appointment today. He said, among other things, that he wants to take casts of both feet and her right leg. He believes it is the muscles not the tendons/ligaments as previously thought. He also indicated that this would be a contributing factor in her growth and foot issues as well as a potential factor in her right hip. She may have to wear a brace on her right leg (hopefully only at night). Her left foot arch is flattening dramatically and her right is overly arched. That is the bodys way of coping with the muscle differences (making left side shorter, while keeping right side lifted). He will make special orthopedic inserts for her feet. We were referred to another pediatric surgeon at PCH to look at her hip. The worry is that it is affecting, or could affect, her spine (much like scoliosis). We will hopefully get approval to see this surgeon soon and start working on that. Soooooooo,,, while it was a lot of news, nothing is devastating and Im very happy that we are seeing some movement in this area. Her speech is continually getting better (at least to me ;) ) and she is finally potty trained - hallelujah!! We can do anything as long as we know what we need to do!!!
