Okay...so as most of you know by now (and to those that dont its nothing personal), I was recently denied employment at a restaurant because Ive only got one arm. Yes, the employer knew that I have over 10 years experience in restaurants in practically every position. I carry trays, roll silver, do everything any other server does. But he automatically denied and judged me based on his close-mindedness in my opinion. At first I was ticked off a bit but as I thought about it more and more I got more and more offended. Ive told my friends in the restaurant biz, now Im telling you all. Everyone wants to know whats next: sue? the local news? Eat that guy alive? Well, Ive thought about it and heres the skinny of it: Ive gotten to know and respect several of the employees at that location (btw its Egg and I off Shallowford in Chattanooga, TN and the mgr who said it is the General Manager, John) and I dont want to affect their income or career. If I go viral with this, they lose business and those employees suddenly have to struggle to make ends meet. Its not their fault. I do want them to know but I dont want them to suffer. John isnt holding me back, Im not insecure because of him and Im not going to give him the satisfaction of being terribly upset (but Im not going to be nice to him). I hope he hears the whispers about him throughout the city and I hope he feels like the idiot he sounded like when he said what he said. Maybe his boss will find out and take appropriate action. Maybe. But if you want to share this and let everyone know please do but please dont let this affect the employees and their means of living. They deserve better.
