Okiki Oderos OPEN QUESTIONS TO ALL KENYANS (REGARDING THE JUDICIARY) RE: IS THE JUDICIARY LIVING UP TO THE PROMISE OF JUSTICE TO ALL KENYANS? Fellow Kenyans, Let me openly express my discomfiture with the manner in which the Judiciary has been churning out decisions, with special reference to election petitions . There are serious concerns that need to be urgently tackled. Foremost, why should each level of the justice system interpret the law differently? What is the source of this incongruence? Are our laws so difficult to understand? Are our laws ambiguous? Cant interpretation be standardized? Further disturbing, is the length of time some of these cases take to conclude? Cant these cases be expeditiously adjudicated? What is the cause of the delay? Is it the law or is it a matter of intellect? Why should cases take centuries to be concluded? Fellow Kenyans, we need to give serious thought to these issues, legislatively or otherwise. The judiciary should self diagnose itself. Should constitutional or legislative change be necessary, it ought to be done. We need to act fast! Justice is all we Kenyans expect, nothing less! Kind Regards, Okiki Odero-Rege.
