Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin has named James Bo Reese as state governments chief information officer. Fallin appointed the 44-year-old Reese to the position Thursday. Reese will oversee information technology services for all state agencies. Reese has held multiple technology and management positions in state government since 1995 and has served in the position on an interim basis since January, when former chief information officer Alex Pettit took a similar job in Oregon. Reese will report to Secretary of Finance Preston Doerflinger, director of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services. All state agency information technology infrastructure and services were consolidated within OMES in 2011 under legislation signed by Fallin. The consolidation, which is about 55 percent complete, has reduced information technology spending by $81 million and dramatically increased cybersecurity.
