Oku means a depth. the deep interior of the mountains, the inward, - TopicsExpress

Oku means a depth. the deep interior of the mountains, the inward, wild part of the mind; it is something in ones heart that no one can touch, something well-hidden there. ~ Gretel Erhlich Oku comes out of Japanese, and I came across it recently in Erhlichs book Facing the Wave: A Journey in the Wake of the Tsunami. 17th century Japanese poet Basho also discussed it in Narrow Road to the Oku. What is your oku? What is your wildness? That space in the heart that is yours intimately? How often do you sit in that space and simply allow? If its been a little while, can you carve out time to check in and be with yourself for a bit?
