Ola, mi madre/familia!!! Ahh, man, I am doing SO much better this week! I think that last week was just a toxic combination of home sickness, my monthly surprise, my wicked cold, Spanish, and being in a war zone! Seriously, I feel so much better. I got a new perspective, and I am a HUGE fan of inspirational quotes now. My favorite is one that the MTC President´s wife gave all the Hermanas on our very first day here: "Remember, the Lord has called you to succeed, not to fail. sometimes it may seem terribly hard, but He wants you to grow. He will not abandon you. He inspired your call. He knows hwo you are. he knows what you need. He knows what He wants you to become, and this missionexperience is an opportunity He has given you to discover things about yourself you never knew; capacities you never knew you had, strength beyond what you felt you had, and the capacity to love and serve which will sustain you throughout the rest of your life. Remember, you have been called and He will fit the task to your capabilities. I testify in the name of Jesus christ. Amen." --Elder Richard G. Scott, Missionary Training Center, april 16, 2013. Whenever I feel down, I just say to myself my ABCs like Mary Phelps told me to do: I am awesome, I am brave, I am confident, etc. I feel cheesy, but it really does help. Yesterday I accidently let the word "sick" slip without realizing it, and the Elderes now think I am SO cool! Haha, so that would be thanks to Jake. Thanks for putting my name in the temple, I definitely need it! I did so for myself last week as well, which made me feel kinda silly, but I can seriously feel Heavenly Father¨s love for me. There is a saying here that a day feels like a week and a week feels like a day. I disagree, and think that a day feels like a day (just as it always has) and a week feels like eternity!! Haha, I am just so excited to get to Florida, but I know that there is still SO much more for me to learn. I am basically thrown into situations every day where I sink or desperately try to swim, and I think that I am learning a lot from it. Honestly, the stress has killed me--lol I may be losing some hair, but I am taking a different approach this week, so hopefully I wont be bald by the time I get home like some of the other Elderes, lol. I LOVE my district! I wish I had the time to tell you all about them, but I don’t. I’ll upload a pic though! The Latino Hermanas in our room left yesterday morning. It was SO sad!!! I told them to write me in Spanish throughout the mission so that I can get more practice. Maybe in a few months I will be able to read the sweet notes that they left in my journal. Haha, I saw that it was going to snow in Utah today!!! Good luck with that. I will pray for you, lol. :) I have been improving somewhat in the language---I have memorized my objective as a missionary as well as the baptismal challenge, and I am working on memorizing Joseph Smith¨s First Vision right now, so we will see how that goes! We have 2 new mock investigators right now, who are our teachers. One of them is acting as a man with bone cancer with a wife who cheats on him...haha, ya, not so easy. But I LOVE the feeling I get when I teach and bear my testimony. It is what I am living for right now. I am really happy for Norm and Amber, what a beautiful name!!!! I am glad Emily is doing good in Tampa as well. Tell Ally not to get too comfortable, because I will be home before you guys know it to kick her right out, lol. I am also STOKED for conference this weekend!!!!! Because this past sunday was testimony meeting, and this week is conference, I haven{t had to give one of those dreaded 5 minute talks in sacrament in complete spanish for two weeks now, bwa ha ha. Seriously though, I think I will be fine when it comes up. Love you ALL!!!! Keep me updated. Con Mucho Amor, Hermana Kaitlyn Brough P.S. Some elderes we flew in with ate over 96 bowls of cereal the other night between 4 or 5 of them...that is about 14-18 bowls apiece at one sitting. I thought it was gross, they had all of their bowls piled up in the middle of the table. just thought youd find it entertaining! P.P.S. I forgot to tell you about something funny Hermana Mathis did with an investigator. She got two scriptures confused, and instead of having him read about baptism, she had him read about not murdering people. Haha, just thought that was funny, and I am sure there are more awesome and dumb stuff that we will say to come!!! I love you so so much!!!!!! Until next martes :)
