Old Station 1, at 118 S. Washington St, immediately north of the Meyer Theater, was built in the 1860s and demolished in 1929. Originally a volunteer station, a large bell was used to summon volunteers. The bell was removed in 1925 and donated to St. Josephs Church on Green Bays west side. The bell was mounted on an outside platform making it accessible to kids and drunks who would ring it. After causing much aggravation, the bell was placed in storage. In 1984, the bell was donated to the new St. Agnes Church in Amber, Wisconsin. It is on a elevated tower and in use today, ringing to announce mass and every noon. Below are images of Station 1 in 1902 with the bell evident in the tower and of the bell in 2014 in front of St Agnes Church in Amberg on Wright St.
