Old guy at church today: War is a terrible and un Christian thing. Ive lived it and wouldnt wish it on anyone. It is absolute hell on earth. Nekk minut, same guy: If I was in charge of this country I would send every single man as soon as he hit 18 into the armed services for at least two years to teach them how to be proper men and straighten them out! Teach them some well needed discipline! Me: Im sorry sir but you seem to be contradicting yourself. If God is not for war then how can he be for armed services? And even still, how could it be a God honoring solution to send all of his hurting and broken people into a place that you yourself described as hell? Im quite convinced that the loving arms of our savior is where such massive restoration will and needs to take place. Not in armed forces but in arms of love. Old guy: ............... Yes... Well... I hadnt thought of that. Me: Yeah, I gathered as much.
