Older bloke walks into the shop to buy some sups for his son. Standing at the counter looking at the bodybuilding posters behind me, he starts to make conversation… So you compete in any bodybuilding comps mate? he asks Yeah Ive been competing a few years now mate, I answer, knowing exactly what his next question is going to be… So how well do you go? He asks Ive won Mr Australia and Mr Australasia 7 times in total now I answer him, knowing full well he knows nothing about different federations or weight categories. At this time, this guy already assumes Im best in the country. Wow thats awesome mate, you ever compete overseas? He asks Yeah mate a couple of years ago I did the Arnold in Columbus Ohio I answer him. Odds are hes heard of the Arnold classic, but knows nothing of the amateur show, so Im looking pretty damn awesome right now. Howd you go over there mate? He asks I came 5th in the world buddy I answer. Again, he has no idea about how many weight categories there are. How many competitors went over there to compete? He asks 18 thousand mate I answer, knowing full well he has no idea that there are hundreds of different sporting events held at the festival. 5th out of 18 thousand competitors, thats awesome He says I agree by winking and giving the man a polite nod. Hell be back for sure!
