Omaalala: the beginning. I have travelled to more than 20 countries and been to more than 500 cities and towns but still came back home to say; Omaalala. Well there are no skyscrapers or shopping malls. We produce our food from our land; Mahangu, watermelons, beans etc. There are beautiful girls although there are more boys than girls, I think. There are interesting love stories. We are very strong in soccer; the entire Oshana region congregates at our village to play in the league that feed the 2nd Division. Indeed they come play in the sandy soil at one of our local school; Mvula. Majority of us are politically aware. Our youth have knowledge and confidence of self. Youth of other villages suffer from inferiority complex; instead of proudly speaking about their village they claim that they are from Ondangwa, Ongwediva or Oshakati. OURS proudly tell the world; I am from Omaalala village in northern Namibia. Most of us think Governor Kashuupulwa and his friends practice seperate development. A substantial number of Taxi drivers in Ondangwa and Oshakati are actually from Omaalala. We have many comedians and story tellers. People like Weah Katse Dumingo Lukas can actually do better than one Lazarus Jacobs. I have big dreams for the village. We currently have a small Youth office but we plan to expand it further. One day we will have a Youth Multipurpose Centre. One day we will have a soccer stadium. One day we will have a factory. Had it not been for the harsh realities of capitalism I would be at home walking barefooted in a tranquil that have unique bird sounds at nights and valleys that bring all kinds of food; fish, omavo, eengehu, omafuma neentangu. I am who I am because of my ancestral land; Omaalala.
