Ombudsman orders transfer of family pension Staff Report KARACHI: Sindh Ombudsman Asad Ashraf Malik has directed Sindh Accountant General to transfer the family pension of late Syed Sagheer Hussain in the name of his daughter Nousheen Fatima. Syeda Nafeesa Fatima, widow of late Syed Sagheer Hussain had filed a complaint on February 27, 2012 against the Accountant General Sindh for an alleged delay in restoration of commuted portion of pension in respect of her deceased husband. She stated that her husband worked in the police department and retired on July 1, 1986. He was getting his pension regularly, and after his death, the family pension was transferred in her name wef June 19, 1995. But on completion of the predetermined period, when she approached the concerned authorities for restoration of commuted portion of her pension, there was no response from the other end. After inquiry it was found out that the original file of the complainant was lying in the office of Sindh AG Karachi and the commutation restoration case could only be finalised once it was received. Accordingly, after completion of the process, District Officer Accounts Khairpur revised the family pension and the surrendered amount of ‘commutation’ and ‘gratuity’ was restored on April 1,1998 and April 1, 1999 respectively. This report was sent to the complainant on January 8, 2013 and was advised to fulfill the required formalities. After subsequent reminders, they were informed about the natural death of Ms. Nousheen and therefore, her pension could be transferred to her unmarried daughter. The application submitted by her daughter Nousheen Fatima on March 12, 2013 was processed and hence, the concerned authority was directed to transfer family pension in her name. dailytimes.pk/default.asp?page=2013%5C07%5C16%5Cstory_16-7-2013_pg12_7
