Omega Speedmaster Mark II: A Story in Pictures It is 1969 once more as far as this watch from Omega is concerned. Released in that magical year, this is the Speedmaster that replaced what would come to be known as the “Moonwatch”, much like this piece that we featured previously. Aficionados will realize that 1969 was of course the year that Apollo 11 blasted off for a date with destiny… While the design hews close to the original, Omega as endowed this 2014 model with a new movement, calibre 3330, with column wheel chronograph and Omegas Co-Axial escapement. It also boasts the silicon balance spring that has characterized current era of Omega watches.
