On 14th July 2014 parents at VIBGYOR High were confronted with one of the most heinous incidents ever. This incident raised 3 important agendas: 1. Justice for the child - punishment of guilt and acountable 2. Immediate safety and security of rest of the children at school 3. Long term measures for all schools in terms of regulatory reforms which can help: - prevent such incidents - any incident reported must be logged, reported to police and investigated immediately. - fast track investigation and justice for such cases A large group of volunteers has been working relentlessly in the above mentioned directions. Last Saturday, 9th Aug 2014, PTA elections were held. The results of the election will be out soon. With this we will have an elected formal body to take care of all school related issues. We would like to congratulate all the parents who took the initiative to nominate themselves for PTA. The PTA body will start with the expanded charter the school agreed upon and we are sure that this is just a beginning. An active PTA body will be able to work with the school in the longer term to both expand the realms of assistance they can give to the school as well as further and facilitate the continuous dialog between the parents and the school. The ever expanding group of volunteers will continue to work with investigation authorities to press for justice and explore mechanisms of plugging the gaping holes in private unaided school regulation this incident has exposed. We would like to congratulate the upcoming PTA in advance and we look forward to their increased involvement in making VHM one of the safest and best schools in Bangalore.
