On April 28, 2014, the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office Metro Division closed a case involving Heroin sales in the Alexandria area. Agents received tips that indicated Martavious Stafford, 21, regularly sold Heroin from his home and made deliveries. Agents opened an investigation and conducted surveillance on Stafford for several weeks. Approximately two weeks into the investigation, Stafford was being followed by agents in the Lee street area. Stafford stopped at a convenience store parking lot and appeared to be conducting a drug transaction. Agents moved in and contacted Stafford, who threw small packets of tin foil and attempted to flee. Stafford was taken into custody in the parking lot after a brief foot pursuit where Stafford received a minor abrasion to his cheek in the rock parking lot. Agents recovered 11 “hits” of Heroin, individually packaged in tin foil. Stafford was transported to a local hospital for treatment and subsequently booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Stafford was later released on $10,250.00 bond. “We have seen an increase in Heroin possession in the last year or so which is unusual for Central Louisiana. We will continue to target these individuals with aggressive enforcement” said Sheriff William Earl Hilton.
