On August 14 th 1947 (Ramadan 27 th 1366), Thousands had been martyred and thousands more were forced to leave their homes. Their wealth robbed, their lands set on fire, villages destroyed, mosques demolished. But they endured; they endured because they knew that their sacrifices were not in vain. They set forth from their homes knowing that they had achieved Iqbal’s dream and Jinnah’s vision. Because on this day, 40 years of striving had finally paid off; on this day, the sun rose to a new land on the map; A land of green. It’s been 66 years since the dream of millions was etched onto the map of this world. And in these past 66 years Pakistan has seen its fair share of ups and downs. But what is important is that we have stood united and proud. Allah has blessed us with a land rich in climate, terrains, cultures and reservoirs. A country of four provinces, but can you even imagine how many languages are spoken in this one land? Sixty. Sixty languages, sixty subcultures, sixty different folks. Some might wonder, how such diverse people can live together; but the truth is that it is this diversity and our respect for each other’s diversity that binds us all together under a single flag. World’s 2 nd and 9 th highest mountains crown Pakistan’s north and the largest deep sea port adorns its south. World’s 5 th largest coal reserves, 2 nd largest salt mine and 5 th largest gold mines are Pakistan’s treasures. What could not make us more proud of Pakistan? Happy independence day...PAKISTAN ZINDABAD.
