On Behalf of the Finance Department Banking Information Seminars Dear All, The public is hereby advised that the Bendigo Bank has completed the opening of accounts for the Ronwan beneficiaries who have signed up to open accounts with Bendigo following the first banking seminars conducted on Nauru in January. Bendigo Bank is currently working with the Trust to process the crediting of the (Ronwan interest) funds to individual beneficiaries’ accounts, which is expected to be completed within a week. Following this process, Bendigo Bank will assemble ‘customer packs’ containing all relevant customer bank information such as account number details, debit/ cards, internet banking access, terms and conditions etc. This will enable Bendigo Bank to return to Nauru for a second visit. Accordingly, another series of Banking Information Seminars will be conducted commencing on Tuesday 1st April at the Civic Centre conference hall (upstairs) and run through until Saturday 5th April. The objectives of the seminar are threefold: 1. To handover to customers their ‘customer packs’, and provide guidance on access to their accounts; 2. To facilitate receiving of cash deposits from customers wishing to deposit cash into their Bendigo Bank accounts; and 3. To provide another account-opening opportunity for those people wanting to open accounts with Bendigo Bank. To ensure an orderly and smooth process for the handover of ‘customer packs’, customers will be split up into three groups by alphabetical order with one group each assigned to come in per day between Tuesday and Thursday. The names of the customers for each group will be publicised outside of the Nauru Revenue Office (NRO) at the Civic Centre sometime soon. Friday and Saturday will be dedicated to account-opening days for those wanting to open accounts with Bendigo Bank. Customers wishing to deposit cash into their accounts will be processed in the NRO downstairs on Friday only. People wanting to open accounts with Bendigo Bank are reminded to bring their valid passports, or if they do not have passports, the birth certificate and a photo ID. Those customers who signed up to open an account in January but did not have sufficient or validated identification documents are requested to bring those ID documents to the seminar. No withdrawals from accounts or other account activity will be permitted until complete identification is provided. There have been a few Nauruan customers who have over the last few days received MasterCards from Bendigo Bank through the mail. These MasterCards have been sent in error and Bendigo Bank wishes to apologize for it. Those MasterCards have been cancelled by Bendigo Bank and those customers may not be able to use those cards. During the next visit by Bendigo Bank in April, all customers will be issued with bank cards that they may use to access their accounts. Any queries relating to the Ronwan distribution or Ronwan balances should be addressed to the NPRT Nauru office. Any queries relating to the seminars or Bendigo Bank can be addressed to the Finance Department, Government Offices at Yaren District. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
