On Christmas Eve of 1987, my dad got discharged form the hospital - TopicsExpress

On Christmas Eve of 1987, my dad got discharged form the hospital after a few months of illness...As my dad was lying there in his hospital bed at home, we had Christmas music playing for him. He had always loved music, especially Christmas music.. Although he had many versions of Silent Night that he could listen to and he had other Christmas music to listen to, this version of this song was the Only Christmas song that he wanted to hear...It was played over and over all that day as dad remained in bed. He said that this was the prettiest version of Silent Night he had ever heard.. At that time he was very frail and weak. .He just kept listening to this song as each family member arrived that night. He had very little to say, but by the tears and sadness in his eyes, I think that this song (especially the talking part ) was conveying my dads feelings. He was giving us each a very long look as this song played....It was his way of saying farewell to us. Christmas was always such a joyous time in that old house.. Mom & dad made it special...but not that Christmas Eve. .It was one of sadness., He passed away a few weeks later.. I am posting this song in the loving memory of my dad, Jess Massey a man who really loved Christmas !!
