On December 17, USAID Mission Director Chris Milligan gave opening remarks at the ASEAN Disability Forum. The event brings together civil society, governments from ASEAN countries, international organizations, the business community, and media to promote rights for people with disabilities. Mr. Milligan emphasized the importance of protecting the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities as a basic human right. The United States is firmly committed to promoting disability-inclusive development and supporting the rights of people with disabilities in this country, throughout the region, and around the world. USAID will continue to promote disability-inclusive development in Myanmar and support local civil society groups advocating for the rights of people with disabilities.
