On December 27, 2013, my dear friend Brian A. Alter proposed to my very best friend in the whole wide world, Rachel Yahl. A few weeks went by and Rachel asked me to be the matron on honor in her wedding. She also informed me she was going to lose weight as was Brian. Well, being the best friend that I am, I wasnt going to let her do that without me!! Are you kidding?? Thats how this whole thing started. Thats how our journey began. I didnt know where to start so I just cut out all fried foods. That was the beginning. I then started to cut out dairy. Then work caught up with me! I was working like a fiend. (For those of you that dont know, I am the Fundraising Coordinator for Northeast Indiana McDonalds (Corporate) Restaurants. This also involves community relations). Anyway, I worked a LOT with Ronald McDonald in the first few months of the year (school shows, meet & greets, hospital visits). Ronald McDonald loves getting people excited about a healthy lifestyle! He helped me design a plan that worked for me. I joined the YMCA and started working out. I was so excited to tell him I was up to 45 minutes on the elliptical machine and he stopped me in my tracks. He then became my go-to guy for personal training. 20 minutes on the elliptical then 40 minutes strength training. I am now up to 150,000 pounds a workout (Im a beast!). My resting heart rate & blood pressure are so much better, my weight is amazing, and besides looking incredible in my bridesmaid dress for Rachel & Brians wedding, I still have a goal that my husband, Kevin Kreiger is going to help me fulfill. We would like to go skydiving when I meet my goal weight! I believe you need a carrot on a stick to stick to your resolution. So, whats my meal plan? In the morning, I have a Special K Breakfast or Protein Bar and my strawberry infused water. For lunch, I have either a Quarter Pounder with NO cheese OR a Grilled Sweet Chili Chicken Wrap with 2 bags of apples and my strawberry infused water. For dinner, I eat what the family eats. This equals out to around 1200 calories a day. Its rough and I do have a cheat day (Sunday) but most days I achieve my 1200 calorie goal. I work out 2-3 times a week at the YMCA. So, yes, you can lose weight eating McDonalds! I am living proof!
