On Decolonizing Creativity, which is the AAAS panel for which I get to be faculty chair, and featuring Janice Sapigao, Von Torres, Melissa Rae Sipin-Gabon, Conrad Panganiban, and Grace Burns, I have a question: In what ways do our communities replicate the same kinds of oppressive structures to impose upon artists -- devaluing the work of the artist, labeling the artist emotional and irrational -- and what do we as working artists do about it?
