On Ford, again: This mornings radio show... It is clear that this man has either lost his grip on reality or I wonder if he ever had one. It is no longer acceptable to even poke fun at this man, though in the spirit of continuing to do things that are unacceptable I will soldier on. There is a religious quality that he mentally divides the world up into. Those who are perfect and those who are not. The perfect people are (and this is from past quotes and not today) Jesus and almost the late Doug Ford Sr. Everyone else is imperfect and equally so. He equates mistakes like not doing your homework in Grade one with being intoxicated while doing billion dollar budgets and driving around schools hammered. He doesnt see, even a secular concept of sin, as a moral sliding scale from inconvenience to evil, it is all the same in his mind. The only conclusion any ethical person can come to with this is that he is either deluded or insane. While that quality does not make him an intrinsically evil man, it certainly renders him completely unfit to even assist in governing a community consisting of more than one person. I liked him as a councilor and even though I thought that he was a little nuts he brought an extreme perspective to the chambers it was good to consider much of what he said, as it did represent the views of at least some members of Toronto society. I thought the same for Olivia Chow, just at the opposite end of the spectrum. The only silver lining I see is that any history buffs out there get to witness the election of a mad man, not a bad man as his words clearly define him as anti social, who fortunately really couldnt do that much damage thanks to the bureaucratic checks and balances that are inherent and sometimes tedious in our modern system. It is eery how easy it was for him to get into power. I dont blame conservative minded people that voted him in, even the liberals in Toronto only thought he was a jerk, not a lunatic.
