On Friday, December 5th, 2014 the Schofield Health Clinic was honored to have the ability to have a ceremony honoring BG(Ret) Hardaway. He was a surgeon stationed at our clinic 73 years ago during the raid on Pearl Harbor and he treated the first of the wounded from the attacks on Schofield Barracks and Wheeler Army Airfield. He provided medical care for 48 hours during one of the most important times in our history, even working under the cover of a blanket with a flash light through the night when a blackout was ordered for safety. He continued to tirelessly work treating over 100 of the wounded. BG (Ret) Hardaway went on to serve in the Army Medical command for over 30 years before retiring in 1975. It was the honor of the entire staff at Schofield barracks to welcome him and his family as he walked the grounds he had not visited in 70 years!
