On Intelligent Design and young earth creationism--I mentioned briefly this debate: Widely viewed, top level debate on explaining origin of life Published on Feb 5, 2014 On Tuesday evening more than 3 million people tuned in to watch Science Guy Bill Nye debate Ken Ham, founder of the biblically literalist Creation Museum on the topic Is creation a viable model of origins? https://youtube/watch?v=z6kgvhG3AkI (ca 4 million views of the YouTube video!) Debate between Creation Museum founder Ken Ham (who does have a degree in science) and Bill Nye, science educator and comedian (and scientist). Ham is a young Earth creationist and president of Answers in Genesis. Nye is best known for the childrens TV series Bill Nye the Science Guy and has written books and TV shows on science. Hams claims: • no new information, easy to explain losses (for example), but no examples of current evolution of new complex abilities (see the refutation of Fabichs claim that Lenskys experiment was unremarkable). This Ham point is made again right at the end. • their research shows that there may have been as few as 2000 kinds. God put all kinds on Earth, and all kinds were preserved by the Ark. • Continents must have shifted and broken apart right after the flood, we are now seeing just the remnants of that movement. • We cannot know what past natural processes were like. • Logical reasoning came from Christianity. Science started with Christianity. • There is no evidence for the Big Bang theory (rebutted by Mye, starting with Hubbles observation that stars are moving apart...) https://youtube/watch?v=VyZjX2e7Kx8 Two telling answers When Nye was asked what would change his mind, he said, “Evidence!” and then gave specific examples. When Ham was asked the same question, he responded “nothing.” Here is the version posted by Answers in Genesis, with their additions and comments: https://answersingenesis.org/countering-the-culture/bill-nye-debates-ken-ham/ on Andrew Fabich, microbiologist (at 45 min in the debate) - came across this when I tried to fact check the debate... winawer.org/blog/2014/02/17/who-is-andrew-fabich/ Creation Museum creationmuseum.org/
