On July 12th, in an effort to fight for global youth education, Malala Yousafzai will celebrate her 16th birthday at the United Nations where she will submit a petition for education equality to United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. To mark this occasion, Galerie Swanström will exhibit the painting titled MISS MALALA by the female street artist, gilf! Please join us at the gallery in SoHo for a cocktail reception on Monday, July 12 from 6 to 8 pm. Malala, a student and education activist, became a victim of terrorism after she spoke out in favor of the education of girls. She is the youngest nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize in history - and recognized this year by TIME Magazine: The 100 Most Influential People in the World. gilf! A contemporary street artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BFA in Fine Art. The painting, Miss Malala, will be exhibited, by appointment, through July.
