On July 22, 2104, Chris Ludwig stops rare plant surveys to share a video of our wildflowers and their pollinators at the Difficult Creek Natural Area Preserve in Halifax County, Virginia. He uses a bit of latin, so here are the common names: Pycnanthemum incanum and Pycnanthemum tenuifolium (the white flowering plants) are Hoary Mountain Mint and Narrow-leaved Mountain Mint, Vernonia glauca is the Upland Ironweed, Liatris squarrosa is the Scaly Blazing Star . For those of you looking for the latin name of Woodland Sunflower it’s Helianthus divaricatus.
