On July 22nd, we created a photo of OUnI board member Rabbi Rami Shapiro OUnI with a quote from his book on lovingkindness which talks about our calling to use everything from the world of spirituality as part of our own practice. The quote was part of a SERIES of quotes that balance the teachings of spiritual uniqueness with profound interconnectedness. BOTH teachings are critical and must be taught together. We are aware that one commercial entity took the original picture to use for a special program (after trimming off the credits) that talks only about the quality of "independence." To only teach one side of the equation does the movement harm. A recent declaration from the board of OUnI is that we are a movement of MANY teachers and MANY books and MANY teachings.
