On June 26: 1969: A Thursday: Drove from Kirkwood, MO, to Little Rock, AR. Stayed at the TraveLodge. 1972: A Monday: Drove from Salisbury Beach, MA, early that morning on a little side trip to Portland, ME. The drove, using US 1, back south to Cambridge, MA. Visited MIT with my brother, Scott I. Batterman. Then went to Brookline, MA, and visited our cousin, Carol "Chippy" Perlman. Then headed west on MA 2. Just before we would have reached NY State, turned north on US 7 to Bennington, VT, and stayed at the Busy Bee Campground. 1977: A Sunday: Left Pembroke, ON. Later discovered that I had not gotten back my credit card when I paid for the motel room. Called the motel and had them mail it back to my house. Drove to Sault Ste. Marie. Visited the Soo Canal. Stayed at a campground, the name of which I never got. 1986: A Thursday: Drove around the island of Puerto Rico. Spent third night at TraveLodge in Isla Verde. 1988: A Sunday: Left the campground at Teklanika in Denali National Park, AK. Turned the wrong way and would have gotten deeper into the park had my brother not spotted it and told me. Made a U-turn. Saw a caribou as we headed out of the park. Drove to Anchorage. Stayed at the Anchorage International Airport Inn. Took the double-decker bus tour of Anchorage starting at the motel. My brother got off downtown; I went the full circle. Somehow he managed to walk back to the motel. 1990: A Tuesday: Drove from Manning to Sherwood Park in Alberta. Stayed at the Franklin Inn, where I had stayed on the way up 19 days earlier.
