On March 11, 1997, The Beatles Paul McCartney got to add a new title to his name. 17 years ago today, Paul was Knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. Paul has admitted that he was very nervous going to Buckingham Palace that day. Paul had been there before. Along with the three other Beatles, McCartney collected an MBE (Member of the British Empire) medal in 1965 -- and shocked the stuffy British establishment by joking that the band had smoked marijuana in the palace toilets before meeting the Queen. So we guess The Beatles smoked pot in Buckingham Palace years before Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman did a line of cocaine on Lincolns desk in the White House. (Howards story of his incident is in his book Shell Shocked). —
