On Monday night, we let our beautiful boxer Maxie pass gently, - TopicsExpress

On Monday night, we let our beautiful boxer Maxie pass gently, snuggled in his loving familys arms at home. It was 20 days after he celebrated his 12th birthday. We feel so very blessed to have been given this extra time with him. I was so touched by how many of you here rallied around him, sending all your positive energy for his splenectomy back in Feb, when it was discovered a cancerous tumour had ruptured on his spleen. Even after the successful surgery, and overcoming previous health issues, we were told to make the most of his next 3 months. We certainly did. However a couple of months ago, we could see the weight slipping away from him, and in the past two weeks, he just wasnt his usual Mr Cool relaxed self. He was at times uncomfortable. Our dear vet confirmed that his time was most likely approaching, and it could come on quite fast. Days later, he went off his dog food but was happy enough on steak, roast chicken, and mince. Sadly after a weekend of eating very little, he had become very tired. His energy drained. I knew the dreaded day had arrived and this battle he couldnt win. He was being so brave, but he was obviously sicker than he wanted to let on. Somehow I made that call :-( I just couldnt bear to see my determined and proud boy struggle for a moment longer. We had to say our goodbyes and I wanted this to happen at home, surrounded by everything he knew and loved. Paula Maccat kindly and unexpectedly created this beautiful video piece for me that you are very welcome to view in memory of my very own Maxie. He was such a people dog and incredibly accepting and tolerant. My very special one of a kind dog. Forever in my heart. Thank you for your unconditional love Maxie. RIP Moostie Doostie xx
