On November 25th the Fiber for Quitman Team will host a Town Hall - TopicsExpress

On November 25th the Fiber for Quitman Team will host a Town Hall meeting to answer questions about Fiber to the Home that C-Spire is offering, which includes internet, television, and phone service. The meeting will start at 6 P.M. and will be at the Quitman High School Auditorium. Representatives from C-Spire will be on hand to cover the program. The Fiber for Quitman Team adopted “Small City, Big Future” as our theme for the incredible opportunity being offered to each Citizen. The fiber optic line to your house is gained by signing up for internet service which will be $80 per month, and then television (150 Channels) will be offered for $60 monthly, and a landline phone for $20 a month. A discount will be offered if you use C-Spire as your cellular service. Just what does having Fiber to the home mean and why should the average Citizen even care? Internet is the critical element as it represents the future for television, business communications, and is critical for the medical field. We have become a digital world and all information is transmitted digitally. Current High Definition Television has to compress its digital file in order to transmit a signal. Without fiber optic to your home future transmissions of Ultra High Definition or 3-D would not be available. Medical consults will be available from remote locations with fiber optic accessibility, which translates into life saving technology. It will greatly improve the opportunities for the students attending school in the Quitman School District. Current cell phone use in Quitman is 3 G which will send digital information at speeds of 3 megabytes, and if we get 4 G service it will only go up to 12 megabytes per second. Internet service with fiber optic lines can send information up to 1000 megabytes or 1 gigabyte per second. Having an available high capacity super fast fiber optic line will be the portal that allows utilization of the latest technologies. It will make our City one of only 30 Cities in the United States with fiber optic lines to the home, and open up opportunities for our children, industry, and business owners. Come to the Town Hall session and learn what this means for you and Quitman. You can go online November 22nd; pay the $10 registration fee, letting them know you want the service. This is a refundable charge and can be used toward the payment for all of the services you decide to sign up for. Friday night our Quitman Panthers travel to Vancleave to take on the Bulldogs. This game will decide who is going to play for the South State Championship. After losing our first four games against perennial powerhouses we have won seven straight. All of the losses are with teams that are still in the playoffs. Great athletes with good attitudes and superb coaching have brought us this far. We need to have a caravan of cars heading south for the game and support our Panthers.
