On November 7, 2014 at the age of 5, Hailey was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes or Juvenile Diabetes. She had been sick and losing weight for around 2 weeks or so , Dr.s said she had a virus but instead of getting better she continued to get worse until her diagnosis. When arriving at Childrens Hospital she had lost at least 5 lbs and her blood sugar was well over 600. Hailey was also diagnosed with asthma and Hashimotos Thyroid disease and celiac disease all between the ages of 3 & 4. After fighting illness after illness and undergoing much painful testing from the age of 18 months. She also suffers from sleep apnea and has been through sleep studies and had her adenoids removed. Last year she was also diagnosed with other food allergies as well. In October of this year she had been swimming at an indoor pool which she had been doing 3 or 4 days a week, it is her favorite thing to do and she is very advanced at it, but the chemicals being elevated and her body being so super sensitive to everything she had a bad asthma attack and her vocal cords closed , diagnosis being Vocal Cord Dysfunction. Which led to her being seen by a speech therapist to learn relaxation breathing and no longer able to swim there. So she also now suffers from medical PTSD thanks to all she has been through. This fundraising campaign is hope for Hailey, a medical diabetic alert dog serves many purposes, friend , companion, PTSD therapy, and life saver. Despite all she has been through she is still a sweet little angel who just wants to live a happy and full life. She is so full of love for her family and friends. With a medical alert dog she will be able to live an active life. This dog gives her and her family hope and will give them peace of mind. The dog will be trained to alert Hailey and her family when her blood sugar drops low or starts to go high. Even at night when she is sleeping, which is a very vulnerable time where a severe low can put her in a coma, the dog will be trained to wake her and her parents. Please consider a donation of any size to help us reach our goal to give Hailey something special when so much has been taken away. Thank you!!
