On October 30, Benin’s Minister of Justice Valentin Djenontin-Agossou and U.S. Ambassador Michael Raynor signed an agreement formalizing a partnership to combat transnational threats, including organized crime, money laundering, drug trafficking, and corruption. Under the terms of the partnership, INL has deployed a Regional Senior Criminal Justice Advisor, Resident Legal Advisor, and Senior Law Enforcement Advisor to provide relevant technical assistance to Benin. This agreement is part of the West Africa Cooperative Security Initiative, a U.S. strategy to fight drug trafficking and transnational organized crime throughout West Africa.
