On October 4, 2014, the Office of Community Partnerships hosted a bilingual college access and transition exhibit, on behalf of the Alamo Colleges, at the “Univision Contigo: Feria Educación San Antonio, held at the University of Texas at San Antonio 1604 campus. The Alamo Colleges exhibit provided information about FAFSA, Apply Texas, college and career programs of study/pathways, dual credit, and the TSI. Information specific to each of the five colleges also was provided at the Alamo Colleges exhibit. The event was part of Univisions long-term education campaign to increase parent involvement in their childrens education and to facilitate their understanding of the U.S. educational system from pre-kinder to college. 2,500 primarily spanish-speaking parents & students attended the fair to obtain information about higher education, financial aid, scholarships, HB 5, pathways to careers, bilingual education, special education, and migrant services.
