On October 9th the following questions were asked on this site of all Esquimalt candidates - 1. Do you accept that McLoughlin Point is no longer an option for wastewater treatment and will you go on the record stating that you will never pursue or promote this as an option? 2. Will you go on the record that you will not pursue or promote the addition of a wastewater treatment plant at Macaulay Point? Meagan BrameI will not pursue a WWTP on Macaulay Point and McLoughlin is off the table! Susan Low McLoughlin is completely off the table for wastewater treatment plants. A park would be nice there. The only way I would look at Macauley Point is if the existing pump station can be re-purposed for tertiary treatment as part of a decentralized system without expanding the footprint or impact on the surrounding neighbourhood. As one of the existing sewage system sites, we need to use that space to its best potential without negative impacts on the environment or community, and in a cost-effective way. I would not support additional land use at Macauley for sewage treatment. Lynda Hundleby Esquimalt McLoughlin Point is off the table for a wastewater treatment plant and Macaulay Point for a wastewater treatment plant is a non-starter. No, No and No. Tim Morrison as a community, we have stood up to the CRD and we have said NO to the CRD on both McLoughlin Point and Macaulay Point, not as an emotion of NIMBYISM, but rather as a highly informed critique of the CRDs lack of vision, haphazard approach to site selections, disregard for expertise and their rush to ram through their project without any consideration of ramifications as well as their insistence on slamming the door shut on progressive, common-sense alternatives. At yesterdays CRD meeting, we have seen them surrender (temporarily), but it is absolutely crucial that every municipal candidate and potential decision-maker be clearly on the record that both McLoughlin Point and Macaulay Point are firmly off the table for the CRDs centralized sewage treatment. Any sign of ambiguity from Esquimalt on this question will only result in the CRD charging back upon our community. I, for one, have no willingness to relive that hellish experience. Beth Burton-KrahnAs a candidate in the upcoming municipal election I state for the record that Macaulay Point and McLoughlin Pt are off the table for sewage treatment.
